This is the largest rooftop solar power plant in the whole UAE.
Its capacity is 3.8MWP in total. This Solar Power Plant is installed
on two separate rooftops of the same shopping mall. There is also more than one
point of Connection for this Power Plant. This Solar Power Plant is biggest of
all the rooftop solar power plants ever installed in the whole the United Arab Emirates
(UAE). Most of the solar PV plants in UAE are on-grid solar systems like this largest
rooftop solar power plant.

Components of Solar PV Plant
Here we will discuss all the individual components used in
this Largest Solar Power Plant of UAE. This Biggest rooftop solar power plant
was designed by Panasonic. This Largest Rooftop Solar Power plant was installed
in 9 months. Now we will discuss the individual components in detail.
As we already mentioned this biggest rooftop solar power
plant is installed in two portions, and it also has more than 1 point of
connection. Here in this article, we will discuss only 1 part of this biggest
solar power plant. We will also discuss the 2nd portion of this Power
Plant but in a separate article.
1st Portion of Biggest Rooftop Solar Power Plant
In this article, we are discussing the components of 1st a portion of this largest rooftop solar power plant.
Solar PV Module:
There are a total of 6292 solar PV
modules installed in this portion of the largest solar power plant. These solar PV
modules are monocrystalline 325WP and manufactured by Panasonic. This
solar PV module is 1053mm wide and 1590mm in long. This solar PV module unlike
the other solar PV modules has points for water drainage in its metal frame. The efficiency of this solar PV module is 19.7%.
Further details of Solar PV Module are given in the below

Standard Test Conditions (STC) are the same for all the solar PV
modules which are 1000 w/m2 irradiance, cell temperature 25oC
and air pass 1.5.
Solar PV inverter:
In first portion of this largest solar power plant, there are
19 solar PV inverters manufactured by ABB. Each solar PV inverter is 100KVA incapacity. These inverters are installed near the solar PV modules on the
rooftop. These solar PV inverters generate 3 phase AC output. These inverters
are on-grid solar PV inverters. These solar PV inverters have 24 DC string
inputs.
Further details of Solar PV inverters are given below

These solar PV inverters are the latest models of ABB solar
inverters. These solar inverters are equipped with all the necessary tools and
technology.
There are 6 MPPTs (Maximum Power Point Tracking) in these
solar PV inverters. Each MPPT have 4 number of DC inputs. There are built-in
fuse plugs for both positive and negative wires of all 24 inputs.
DC String Cables:
6mm2 DC string cable is used for this biggest
rooftop solar power plant. MC4 connectors are used to connect these string
cables to the solar PV modules and solar PV inverters. This string cable is
made of copper and has two protective layers of plastic. This string cable is
rated as an outdoor DC cable.
AC Output Cables:
70mm2 4 core XPLE AC cable is used as an output
cable from inverters to the AC combiner box for this largest rooftop solar
power plant. This AC cable is UV rated Ac cable and suitable for outdoor
installations. From the AC combiner box to the meter cabinet and meter cabinet to
the point of connection 150mm2 4 core AC cable is used.
AC Combiner Box:
For this portion of the largest
rooftop solar power plant, there are two AC combiner boxes. 1st AC
combiner box has 10 inputs of 70mm2 4 core AC cables and 5 outputs
of 150mm2 4 core AC cables. 2nd AC combiner box has 4
outputs of 150mm2 4 core AC cable and 9 inputs of 70mm2 4
core AC cables.
This AC combiner box is equipped with a motorized main circuit
breaker to disconnect the supply of the whole combiner box at once. And there are
individual circuit breakers for each inverter. There is also interface
protection relay available for these AC combiner boxes.
Breakers and Relays:
All the breakers and relays used in this project are
manufactured by ABB. The main circuit breaker is 4 pole motorized contactor manufactured
by ABB. Individual inverter circuit breakers are also 4 poles but these circuit
breakers are manual.
Mounting Structure:
For this solar power plant mounting structure is comprised
of only Calzip clamps because the roof is a calzip type metal roof. There are only
4 clamps under each solar PV module.
Cable Trays:
Cable tray portion will be discussed in detail in 2nd
article with 2nd part of this largest solar Power Plant.
Weather Monitoring System:
The weather monitoring system is discussed in detail in the second
portion of this Power Plant. Please click here to access the 2nd portion of this biggest rooftop solar power plant.
Online Monitoring System:
The online monitoring system is also discussed in the second portion
of this power plant. To access the second portion of this power plant please
