Components of Solar PV Plant
Now we will discuss each and every individual component of
this Solar PV Power Plant in Details. In this article, we will also discuss the design and layout of this power plant and how difficult it is to
maintain this power plant based on its design.
Solar PV Module:
As mentioned above there are 854 solar PV modules. These PV
modules are Monocrystalline solar PV modules manufactured by Sun Power. All 854
solar PV modules are of the same rating which is 435Wp. Size in terms of
area for this solar PV module is approximately 2m2.

Above values are based on the standard Test Conditions (STC) which are 1000W/m2
Irradiance, Air Mass (AM) 1.5, and Cell Temperature 25oC. This Solar
PV module is suitable for Ungrounded, Positive Grounded or Negative grounded DC
system. This Solar PV module is approved my DEWA you can verify it from the
list of equipment given on the DEWA website.
Solar PV inverter:
There are total 8 Solar PV inverters for this Solar Power
Plant as mentioned above. These solar PV inverters are manufactured by Huawei. The rated capacity for these Solar PV Inverters is 42KVA.

These Solar PV inverters are mounted on the wall. As
mentioned above these are IP65 rated so these Solar PV modules are suitable for
outdoor mounting.
There are total of 8 DC inputs and 4 MPPTs. That means there
are 2 string inputs for each MPPT. There are 2 AC outputs for this solar PV
Inverter. There are also 3 Com inputs available in this Inverter. There are 2
DC switches to disconnect the DC load from the inverter.
DC String Cables:
When two or more than two solar PV modules are connected in
series they for a string. When two or more than two strings are connected in
parallel they for an Array.
For this Power plant, some strings are consists of 10 Solar
PV modules and some strings are consists of 11 solar PV modules. There are
total of 10 strings per inverter. There are total of 6 strings are connected directly
to the inverter and 2 arrays are connected to these inverters.
Size of DC string cable is 4mm2 copper. This DC
string cable is manufactured by DUCAB.
AC Output Cables:
For this Power Plant we have taken 1 AC output from each
inverter. Cable size for these inverters is 25mm2, 3core AC cable.
This AC Cable is manufactured my DUCAB.
There is also 150mm2, 3core AC cable from AC
combiner box to the point of connection.
AC Combiner Box:
There is a 1 AC combiner box for this Solar PV Power Plant.
There are 8 inputs of 25mm2 and 2 outputs of 150mm2
cables. This AC combiner box has Circuit breaker for each individual Solar
Inverters and 1 Main Circuit Breaker. This AC combiner box is also equipped
with Interface protection Relay.
Breakers and Relays:
All the circuit breakers used in this Plant are manufactured
by ABB. There is a 1 Main Motorized Circuit Breaker in AC Combiner Box which is
which is rated as 630A. There are 8 Solar Inverter Isolators each is rated as
40A.
CM-UFD is used as interface protection relay which is
manufactured by ABB for this plant. We have also used fuses and surge arrester
for the protection from surges.
Mounting Structure:
This Solar PV Power Plant is a roof-mounted power plant. The mounting structure for this power plant is based on a single mounting structure
for a single PV panel. For this Power plant, we have used Aluminum mounting
structure which is rust free and long-lasting. For the mounting of Solar PV
modules, we have used concrete blocks. The weight of each concrete block is 40KG.
Cable Trays:
We have used different sizes of cable trays for this Solar PV
Power Plant which varies from 50mm to 400mm in width. The length for each cable tray
is the same as 1.8m. All the cable trays are made of the same material which is GI.
